Manufacturing and agriculture are interconnected sectors driving innovation in food production and sustainability. Yet ideologically are they less compatible

We've teamed up with Agri-TechE member The Manufacturing Technology Centre (MTC) to see in person some of the tools and technologies being used in other industries to improve efficiencies and maintain consistent quality in production. Whilst agriculturalists are often up against the variablilty of weather, we want to investigate what manufacturing principles we could and should be applying to the way we grow our food.

The Manufacturing Technology Centre was established to prove innovative manufacturing processes and technologies in an agile environment in partnership with industry, academia and other institutions. MTC work across Intelligent Automation, Metrology, Robotics and more, and is part of the High Value Manufacturing Catapult.

This event features a tour of the MTC demonstration facility featuring lasers, large-scale 3D printing, 'factory-in-a-box' and automation. Followed by a workshop considering How manufacturing principles can / will / should be applied to agriculture and horticulture.

This event takes place in Coventry the day before LAMMA; so if you're thinking of heading to LAMMA, why not make the most of your trip and meet some of the network at the MTC visit and optional evening dinner?

Join us to explore how manufacturing principles of optimising production, enhancing product quality, and reducing operational costs can be achieved while adhering to long-held farming principles.
