Having now designed wireframes and prototyped the architecture, the Farm-PEP site is now being built at https://farmpep-dev.creative.coop.
We hope to have this open to users to start adding content from the New Year. Obviously at the outset there will be very little content so we won't be shouting about it too loudly. We aim to build content from project partners and stakeholders around a few focused Topic areas, such as Nutrition, Net Zero, Biostimulants and Soil Health.
We had previously considered seeking sponsorship for the first 6 to 12 months to give time and resource to help build content and users on the site, whilst establishing a sustainable business model through memberships of organisations. Feedback was strong that Farm-PEP shouldn't be seen to be unduly influenced by commercial sponsorship. We are exploring possible opportunities with AHDB linking to the development of 'What Works', and will also explore with Defra, UKRI and others.
Initially the website will be open to all organisations to register and add content for free for a period of six months. We will then begin charging newly registered organisations from June onwards, perhaps after a formal launch at Cereals in June 2022.
We are also revisiting the name Farm-PEP ... The title Performance Enhancement Platform really relates to the tools being developed in the new Farming Innovation Pathways Farm-PEP project whereas the current platform is squarely for Knowledge Exchange. Ideally we would find a short name that says what it is (ie a knowledge exchange platform) that fits neatly with 'What Works' and the on-farm research tools being developed in Farm-PEP. If you have any suggestions please let us know. If we don't find anything considerably better than FarmPEP we will stick with it.
