Benefits of mixing wheat varieties

This project is a Rothamsted funded project under the FarmInn initative, that considered the question: What impact does blending wheat varieties have on yield, disease resistance, GAI and competitiveness against weeds?

The trial showed benefits in terms of:

- yield

- septoria resistance

-GAI

 

What was interesting was that the benefits seen in the field were greater than that which were predicted in theory. Mixing varities is a complex area in terms of which varietial triats to mix but this was a promising finding.
